With the accelerating process of democratization,many people pay attention to the rights and status of contemporary women.The source text translation is from the feminist novel A Woman Is No Man by Etaf Rum,a Palestinian-American writer.The novelist tells the story of three generations of Palestinian women in three different time lines,showing the life style of conservative Arab women.The translation report expounds the significance and background of the topic selection.The report also gives an overview of the task and process of translation which introduces the novelist and the main contents of the novel,then explains the preparation before translation including gathering valuable information and putting it together.In view of the description of the heroine’s life background and psychological characteristics of in the second chapter,which fully reflects the language style of the novelist,the second chapter of the novel is emphatically translated to find out the language difficulties of describing the action,manner and psychological characteristics of the heroines in the cross-cultural background.The report also elaborates on feminist translation theories both at home and abroad.In the case analysis,the difficulties in translation practice and the feminist translation theories are analyzed.This report focuses on the four translation strategies of “prefacing”,“footnoting”,“supplementing”and “hijacking” so as to embody feminist consciousness and create female images.The summary of translation practice is to reflect on this translation practice report and sum up the experience.Considering that this translation practice is a beneficial attempt to apply feminist translation theory into practice,it is hoped that more attention can be drawn to women to some extent.
