Dynamic Physical Education for Elementary School Children is a physical education textbook featuring explicit teaching objectives and also delivering comprehensive techniques on skill development.Dynamic activities involved in this book are designed scientifically,which are remarkable and practical.Physical educators in China are under the pressure to teach more with fewer resources.The management of the class is poor and the curriculum developed for physical education is sometimes old-fashioned and unscientific.Therefore,the translation practice focuses on two chapters of this textbook,Chapter5 Lesson Planning and Chapter 6 Improving Instructional Effectiveness.Translator hopes this translation could be considered as a useful reference to physical education instructors or instructors to be.Also,hopefully,this translation could act as a useful reference for those who practice translation on sport English or sport education textbook.This practice is completed on the basis of Liu Zhongde’s translation principle:Faithfulness,Expressiveness and Closeness.Therefore,translation should be faithful to the original,be as expressive as the original work and be close to the style of the original.This report will first analyze the features of sport English,including its words,sentence structure and discourse feature.The difficulties of the translation would be then presented and discussed.Next comes the summary of the theory and the case study which shows how this theory guides the translation practice.The last part of the report is the summary of the whole practice.After the practice,the translator found out that,in the translation of sports texts,especially the physical education textbooks,“closeness” refers to being close to not only the style of the original,but also the written style of target language,so as to boost the value of the textbook as an essential reference for the PE teachers,who could therefore make the classes more efficient and easy to follow.Also,the translator gets a deeper understanding of sport English through this translation practice.Directed by the Trinity Principle,the translation has been modified and polished repeatedly,with the aim of maintaining the fidelity to the original work and conforming to Chinese writing style and manner.All of this,hopefully,could help improve translator’s skill in translation.
