As an important field of literary translation,the translation of children’s literature has always been in a marginal position.Children are the hope and future of a country.By reading children’s literature,they can receive humanistic education,enhance their appreciation of art,and build their understanding of the world.Therefore,it is very important to translate children’s literature.This thesis is a report on the translation practice of children’s literature.The source text is selected from the 10thto 13thchapters of children’s best-selling book The Manor House School by American children’s literature writer Angela Brazil talking about the colorful campus life and thrilling adventure activities of some girls in the manor school.The content is interesting and the language is lively and colloquial which is suitable for children to read.As a special group of readers,the thinking and knowledge structure of children are different between that of adults.The aesthetics of reception theory of Jauss advocates taking readers as the center and paying more attention to the characteristics and receptivity of children.Under the guidance of reception aesthetics,the difficulties encountered in the translation process are analyzed and discussed,and corresponding translation skills are proposed from lexical,syntax and rhetoric level by listing a number of study cases.This article hopes to explore at lexical,syntactic and rhetorical level under the guidance of Reception Aesthetics Theory to provide some help and inspiration for future children’s literature translation.
