| The Manor House School represents the best-selling book in overseas markets written by Angela Brazil(1868-1947),a British writer.The novel depicts the campus life of two little girls with a fresh and interesting style.Through the E-C translation of children’s literature work,the Manor House School,this report is aimed at providing excellent works for Chinese children,and it also summarizes the methods of the translation of children’s literature as the reference for the translators in related fields.From the perspective of translation aesthetics,this report focuses on the aesthetic representation of children’s literature in light of formal system and non-formal system.In the formal system,the author analyzes the aesthetic representation at phonetic,lexical and syntactic level.The phonetic beauty is mainly represented by reduplicated words and onomatopoeia;the lexical beauty is represented by conforming to aesthetic principles of “Appropriateness,compactness and beauty”;the syntactic beauty is mainly reflected by rhetorical devices.In the non-formal system,the author focuses on the aesthetic representation of “image” and “emotion” and finds out strategies to ensure the readability of the target text when representing the “beauty” of the source text.The study results show that translation aesthetics provides significant theoretical foundation for translation of children’s literature.Translation of children’s literature is not only an interlingual transformation between different linguistic signs but also an artistic activity that can convey aesthetic value of the source text,whose beauty in form and non-form complements each other. |
