A Study Of The Formulas Of The Eastern Mongolian Short Epic

It has become a consensus in academic circles that Eastern Mongolian Short Epic are seriously formularized.And this phenomenon is not confined to short Eastern Mongolian epics.From the perspective of the whole Mongolian epic,the phenomenon of formularization is also a cloud of doubt floating above the Mongolian epic.Many scholars have studied the problem of formula syntax,but there is no reasonable explanation for the formularization of Mongolian epic in terms of structure or characterization.This paper takes the Eastern Mongolian Short Epic as the research object,and studies the formularization of its structure or characterization.Firstly,it starts from the relationship between the story told by the Eastern Mongolian short ancient epic and its formularized motif.Through a comparative study of the plot of the epic Alateng Galuhai Khan,which is spread in the Balhu region and the Ordos region,a story that is told by both is inferred,from which it is found that the short epic texts in the Eastern Mongolia cleverly arrange the stories told together in the epic.In order to understand the relationship between the epic and the story told by the epic,a horizontal comparison is made between the verse version of the folk story and the epic version of the story of marrying the dragon lady.Through comparison,it is found that the characters in the epic are braver than those in the folk story version and the verse version,and there are a lot of complimentary lines in the epic version.Then,the paper continues to study the problems of a large number of hymns in the Eastern Mongolian Short Epic,and the proportion of narrative lines in the Eastern Mongolian Short Epic.It is found that the proportion of effective narrative lines in the epic is not high,and if the effective narrative lines are defined as telling the original story,the proportion will be even lower.In the face of this result,the author analyzes and summarizes the remaining lines,and then finds that the Eastern Mongolian Short Epic basically presents the structure of “praise-narrative-praise-praise”.In view of this formularized structure,the author compares it with some praises,and then finds that the structure of Eastern Mongolian Short Epic is very similar to praises.Therefore,the writing of short epic in Eastern Mongolia should have the same way of thinking as the writing of praise.By this point,the study of formularized structure of the Eastern Mongolian Short Epic has been finished.In the following chapter,the author analyzes some special formularized phenomena of the Eastern Mongolian Short Epic,such as formularized character image shaping,and the aesthetic concept expressed in it.In this chapter,the author also explains the folklore phenomenon manifested by some formularized characteristics of the Eastern Mongolian Short Epic.Finally,the author discusses the influence of the Eastern Mongolian Short Epic on some later works.
