A Practice Report On The Invalidation Problem Of Cohesion Of The Target Language In A Chinese-English Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Of Blue Land

The 21 st century is called "the century of the ocean".The exploration from people for the vast ocean has not been stopped,and the mysterious vastness of the sea world has been fascinated people for such a long time.This report selects the documentary Blue Land as the source language material.This is the first time that the Chinese documentary team has shot a comprehensive and systematic marine story in the form of a natural documentary.The shooting of the documentary is also the largest,widest and the most comprehensive marine shooting in China so far.Taking China’s coastal waters as the stage,Blue Land increases the audience’s understanding and love for the ocean with excellent content.To tell a good story of China’s coastal waters is not only the requirement of the times,but also the mission of the young generation.This is also the significance of choosing this documentary as the source language.In the practice of the consecutive interpreting of the documentary Blue Land,the translator has failed in cohesion of the target language which led to the difficulties in semantic communication.The reasons are summarized as follows: 1.Grammatical confusion leads to the invalidation of cohesion of the target language 2.Unclear logic leads to the invalidation of cohesion of the target language 3.Term vacancy leads to the invalidation of cohesion of the target language.This report selects Halliday and Hasan’s cohesion theory as the theoretical guidance to explore the solution to the problems of the invalidation of cohesion of the target language in the process of the interpreting,and explores the correction methods through specific case analysis.By correcting the problematic cases,the translator concludes that the following methods can be adopted to effectively connect the target language.They are adding subjects,to make clear the limited ingredients,the explicit treatment and the implicit treatment of the conjunctions,the repetition of the original words and the synonyms.It is hoped that this report can make more people pay attention to the phenomenon of the invalidation of cohesion of the target language,and further summarize the reasonable application of cohesive devices so as to provide relevant reference for the discussion of the similar problems in the future.
