A Comparative Study Of Phonology Of Dialects In Haining,Zhejiang Province

Haining is located in the northern part of Zhejiang Province,which belongs to Jiaxing City,Zhejiang Province.According to “the Chinese Language Atlas”,Haining dialect belongs to Wu dialect.The study of the Northern Wu dialect has always been more in-depth,which includes both single-point dialect research and regional research.The terrain of Haining is long and narrow,so there are certain speech differences between the dialects of all parties.Incorporating township dialects into the scope of comparative research can show the overall appearance of dialect speech and clarify the evolution of speech.Based on the field investigation,this paper uses the basic research methods such as description method,comparative method and dialect geography to carry out regional research.The paper describes the phonetic system of ten dialect points in Haining.This paper introduces the current reading of chinese and ancient rhymes in Haining dialect,and reveals their common characteristics and internal differences.More importantly,it examines the historical evolution of sound and rhyme.Comparisons can be found as follows: Haining dialect retains the ancient voiced initial,though there are varying degrees of weakening in different dialect locations;the pronunciations of Zhi 知 Zhuang 庄 Zhang 章 groups initials can be divided into two types,unitary type and dichotomic type;the sharp sound and glottal sound also can be divided into two types;the main vowels of Guo 果 rhyme group and Jia 假 thyme group has varying raising;Zhi 支 rhyme and Wei 微 rhyme are incorporated into Yu 虞rhyme;Hai rhyme and Tai rhyme of Xie 蟹 group have different rhymes after Duan 端 initial group;Tan 覃 rhyme and Tan 谈 rhyme of Xian 咸group also have different rhymes after Duan 端 initial group;Some dialect points proliferate the mediating sound.Finally,the speech shows the difference of Haining dialect in the form of map.On this basis,the Haining dialect is divided into east and west regions.
