| Chunk is a fixed form of multi-lexical language unit that is ubiquitous in natural discourse.In speech and expression,chunks have certain advantages in information processing,which can be stored and memorized as a whole,reducing the memory burden of learners in the process of input and output,and increasing the speaker’s language fluency and appropriateness.In recent years,the study of chunks has exerted a greater influence in the Chinese teaching field.This article attempts to compare the language blocks in the two representative Chinese textbooks "Development Chinese: Elementary Synthesis" and "New Practical Chinese Textbook",which are representative of the initial stage.This research aims to answer the following questions: First,the Chinese language in the two textbooks What is the arrangement of the blocks? Second,what is the recurrence rate of chunks in the two textbooks? Third,can the teaching efficiency be improved through the awareness of language chunks of teachers and students in the teaching process? How to cultivate students’ language block consciousness?This research first uses qualitative analysis to look up and sort out related literature on chunks,and analyze textbooks from the perspective of Chinese as a foreign language.Secondly,it analyzes the arrangement of language blocks in the two textbooks "Development Chinese: Elementary Synthesis"(Volume Ⅰ and Ⅱ)and "New Practical Chinese Textbook"(Volume 1.2.3)through comparative statistical methods.Finally,use the summary and induction method to sort out the chunk item list of each part of the two textbooks.The main findings of this research are as follows:First,in terms of the overall comparison of the two sets of books,the block arrangement and volume of "Development Chinese · Elementary Synthesis" are better than those of "New Practical Chinese Textbook",but the two sets of books have their own advantages and disadvantages.The language blocks in "Elementary Synthesis" are more reasonable in the texts and annotations,embodying the principle of intensive teaching,more practice,and gradual progress.The applicable context of language blocks is more prominent,which is more conducive to students’ learning authentic Chinese fluently.At the same time,in the practice session,the form of language block practice is richer and diversified,which can attract students’ interest and improve learning efficiency.Second,by comparing the recurrence rates of the language blocks in the two textbooks,it is found that the recurrence rates of the language blocks in the two textbooks are relatively low,which is not conducive to the consolidation of students’ review.Third,the instruction of textbook chunks and teacher chunk teaching are beneficial to the cultivation of students’ chunk awareness.Textbook writers and teachers provide students with real language situations in the process of writing lesson plans,and students will inadvertently strengthen chunk awareness.This paper compares the arrangement and recurrence of language blocks in the vocabulary,annotations,texts and exercises in the initial stage "New Practical Chinese Textbook" and "Development Chinese" textbook,and draws on the experience of the predecessors,which is the initial stage.The language block presentation of the textbook puts forward some suggestions,and selects the lesson of "Living in the Country as the Customs" in "Developing Chinese" to design the block teaching case. |
