A Study On The Relationship Between The Characters And Vocabulary Of Chinese Learners And The Ability Of Spoken English In Non-chinese Character Circles | | Posted on:2021-06-03 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:Q Wang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2505306503475494 | Subject:Chinese international education | | Abstract/Summary: | | | This paper reports a study on the relationship between literacy and vocabulary and the complexity,accuracy,and fluency of oral language in the non-Chinese characters circle.I selected 20 foreign students from Shanghai International Education Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.Twenty people were in the middle grade and the rest twenty people are in the senior grade.In the study,I tested the literacy and vocabulary of foreign students and evaluated their oral Chinese capabilities from complexity,accuracy,and fluency.The complexity includes syntactic and lexical complexity.The accuracy includes syntactic,lexical and phonological accuracy.And the fluency includes average flow length,the frequency and duration of the silent pauses,and the frequency and duration of the enriched pauses.I designed the Chinese characters and vocabulary test list on the basis of the relevant theories.Then I transferred the subjects’ oral language materials with Elan and analyzed the correlation between the literacy and vocabulary and the complexity,accuracy,and fluency of foreign students’ oral language.Finally,I found that there is a significant correlation between the literacy and vocabulary of non-Chinese circle students.The literacy and vocabulary of foreign students mainly affects the complexity of vocabulary.I hope that the implication of the findings can make people pay more attention that literacy and vocabulary can influence each other and literacy and vocabulary have some influence on oral Chinese capabilities of foreign students. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | literacy, vocabulary, complexity, accuracy, fluency | | Related items |
