| Adrian Gurney’s paintings have both classical tradition and modern artistic characteristics,and he has his own unique understanding and exploration of the use of images in paintings.His creation insists on taking the individual as the breakthrough point and changes with the changes of environment and mentality.On the basis of inheriting the tradition,figurative factors and abstract factors coexist,creating a new possibility of painting with strong conflicting visual tension.In Gurney’s paintings,historical memory and personal memory are combined,order and destruction are juxtaposed,figurative and abstract coexist,metaphor and straightforward interplay.This paper analyzes Gurney’s painting through the analysis of his creative techniques and creative thinking,as well as the inspiration of Gurney’s painting to the development of contemporary painting.The difference between Gurney’s painting and his previous paintings is that he combines the figurative and illusory elements of painting and creates a new look of personal painting.As a young and recognized artist still alive,Gurney’s painting is still in constant exploration and change,and his painting language and creative thinking will undoubtedly have a huge impact on today’s painting creation and academic research. |
