The period of Anti Japanese war is an important period in the history of the Communist Party of China.In Yan’an,the Communist Party of China,from weak to strong,constantly engaged in military and political struggles,but also attached great importance to the development of cultural undertakings.It is in this period that the film industry of the Communist Party of China has gradually developed.The Communist Party of China has always attached great importance to the development of culture,especially in the role of political mobilization and propaganda.Therefore,since the founding of the Communist Party of China,it has entered the field of film,and led the left-wing film movement in the 1930 s,which has had a great impact in the film industry,and is more aware of the importance of film as a "weapon".When Yan’an film troupe was founded in August 1938,the Communist Party began to really grasp the weapons of film and develop the cause of people’s film.Under the guidance of the Yan’an Forum on literature and art,film writers and artists made clear the question of who the film work should serve.From then on,people’s films have stepped to a new level.During this period,Yan’an film company made a lot of films,including anti Japanese War documentaries and feature films,such as the first Anti Japanese War documentary film "Yan’an and the Eighth Route Army",the first feature film "border labor heroes" and some news documentaries about major conferences.Some films can’t be shown for various reasons,but the national spirit and the development of the Communist Party’s film industry have played a progressive role.In particular,under the guidance of the Yan’an Forum on literature and art,the documentary "combining production with combat" truly records the Anti Japanese War and daily life of the army and the people in Yan’an period.It has become a typical example of the Communist Party of China using film weapons for propaganda and a major breakthrough in the development of people’s films.At the same time of shooting documentary films,Yan’an film company set up a projection team,which went to various places in the liberated areas for roving screening,in order to use the films for anti Japanese war propaganda.The contribution made by the Communist Party and the Chinese people to the anti fascist war and the efforts made in the field of film have attracted the attention of peace loving progressive film artists in the world.They traveled across mountains and rivers to China to exchange and cooperate with Yan’an film troupe,and have greatly helped the film industry in Yan’an.In order to further expand the film organization,the Communist Party carried out two film training courses,which greatly enriched the film talents.The turbulent political environment and hard creative conditions not only did not destroy the party’s film industry,but also encouraged the film workers to work hard and gradually develop the party’s film industry in the war.In the special period,the development of Yan’an film industry shows some characteristics of that period: distinct political position,unique Anti Japanese War shooting theme,political and artistic unity.The efforts of Yan’an film troupe and Yan’an film workers have achieved good results.Taking films as the media of Anti Japanese War,they carried out political mobilization and propaganda,stimulated the enthusiasm of the whole people for the war,increased the people’s sense of national identity,and also played an encouraging and stimulating role for the army and the people in the war.
