In recent years,with the rise of China’s international status,the world’s demand for Chinese talents has gradually increased,learning Chinese has become a new trend.It is also one of the effective ways for many overseas people to understand China.Chinese as a foreign language is a comprehensive subject,which is deeply influenced by various theories and schools of second language teaching methods.Although the theory of multiple intelligences originated from psychology,it has made brilliant achievements in the field of education.At present,some predecessors use this theory to teach,and have achieved certain teaching effect,which has reference value.Therefore,based on this theory,this paper has carried on the related research.First of all,through reading the practical articles of teaching Chinese as a foreign language guided by the theory of multiple intelligences,the author analyzes and studies the correlation between the theory and some teaching methods of Chinese as a foreign language,and the feasibility and necessity of integrating it into the teaching of elementary comprehensive courses of Chinese as a foreign language,Secondly,in order to achieve better teaching effect,under the guidance of the theory of multiple intelligences,the author uses the methods of questionnaire survey and classroom observation to investigate the intelligence of Junior Chinese students in the Confucius Institute of Kelaniya University in Sri Lanka.The results show that the strong intelligence of the respondents is self-cognition intelligence,natural observation intelligence and interpersonal intelligence,Thirdly,according to the survey results,the teaching design outline guided by the theory of multiple intelligences is given,and the strong intelligence of students is combined with the text content of Lesson 11 in the“new practical Chinese textbook ”(Volume 1) to show the teaching practice.Finally,the relevant reflection and suggestions are given.The research value of this paper is to provide a new teaching method for teachers of Chinese as a foreign language who go to or teach Chinese in Sri Lanka.By understanding the multiple intelligences of teaching objects,we can design appropriate teaching activities according to the actual situation.In addition,the teaching practice demonstration of elementary comprehensive course of TCFL guided by the theory of multiple intelligences in this paper can also provide a relatively clear teaching idea for novice teachers,which has a certain guiding significance.
