Since the New-Period,when Chinese contemporary literature has of an unprecdentedly prosperous creative trend, western literature has also entered the mainstream of creation with its unique and magnificent literary art and diverse cultural background. In terms of creative themes, modern society’s imagination of remote villages,China’s rural development strategy, and the preservation of cultural traditions have made rural narration an important creative content of western literature in the new era.Xue Mo is a typical local writer of the new generation of western literature.Long-term rural life experience and concern for the peasants’ living conditions on the barren lands in the western region have enabled his writing style to focus on the living conditions and spiritual depths of western peasants. What is striking is that Xue Mo has interspersed many rural ethical relations in the narrative of the novel, which is mainly manifested as the "people" in the rural world as the center, discussing the ethical relations of ecology, folklore, love and other dimensions. This is the current state of development of the multiple relations between the peasants in the west and the surrounding things. This paper attempts to make a more comprehensive and systematic analysis of the rural ethical narrative of Xue Mo’s novels by referring to the rural experience and narrative standpoint of western writers through the methods of cross-disciplinary research such as ethics and ecology. This not only helps readers understand the customs and customs of the western countryside, but also provides a reference for the cognition of western culture in the diverse context. This thesis is mainly divided into three parts: introduction, body, and conclusion. The introduction part introduces the reason for the topic selection and the author’s creation, explains the related concepts of western rural ethics and local writing, and combs the current research status of Xue Mo’s novels. The main text is based on Xue Mo’s work, centering on the "people" in the rural world, and launching an ethical narrative from the large and small logical levels of human and nature, folk customs, and love ethics. The conclusion part summarizes the characteristics and limitations of Xuemo’s rural ethical narrative, and explores the author’s spiritual world and warm local feelings. The main body of the thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter focuses on the ecological crisis and the ecological ethics narration in Xue Mo’s novels. The extremely poor living conditions in the western rural areas have caused the villagers to extend their ability to obtain materials to the local natural resources. At this time, the vigorously rising industrialization also continued to be imported into the western villages. The originally barren and fragile villages are facing a serious ecological crisis in this internal and external squeeze.Contradictions and conflicts between man and man and between man and nature are successively staged in rural society. The author imagines and constructs the ecological theme of "harmonious coexistence between man and nature" in this kind of ethical contradiction of tense man-land relationship. Therefore, this chapter mainly explores the writer’s narrative strategy of ecological ethics and modern ethical reflection from the ethical tragedy unfolding in the contradictions between man and nature. The second chapter analyzes the modern dilemma of cultural tradition and the folk ethics narration in Xue Mo’s novels. It mainly combines the rich folk culture and the folk writings of Chinese native writers to analyze the writings of Xue Mo’s novels on the marriage, food, clothing and other life folk customs in the western countryside, thereby explaining that the rural individuals are facing the two social languages of tradition and modernity. The various cultural conflicts and ethical contradictions to be dealt with in the environment. At the same time,it exposes the folk ethics that have gradually changed under the influence of factors such as industrial economy and personal values. The third chapter focuses on the complexity of rural marriage and love and the love ethics narrative in Xue Mo’s novels. It mainly analyzes the morbid distortion of the normal love ethics in the countryside under the double suppression of "survival" and "sexual depression".On the other hand, from Xue Mo’s vivid and strong female descriptions,he explores the fate and tragedy brought by traditional marriage customs and patriarchy in the western rural areas to female individuals, thereby highlighting women’s self-salvation and rebellious spirit. Finally,it discusses the emotional struggle and the final trend of the rural intellectuals when there is an insurmountable gap between love and family ethics. |
