| There are four main writers in Huang Wei’s family during the Ming dynasty:Huang Wei,Huang Luzeng,Huang Xingzeng and Huang Jishui.Among them,Huang Wei was lived in the Zhengtong and Hongzhi years,Huang Luzeng and Huang Xingzeng were active in the Hongzhi and Jiajing years, and Huang Jishui was active in the Jiajing and Wanli years. There are six literary sketches compiled by members of this family: Peng Xuan Lei Ji,Western Tributary Records,Records of Customs in Wu Area,Poverty Scholars,Continued Notes of Wu Zhong Philosophers and Supplement to Wu Zhong Philosophers’ Continued Notes. At present,it can be proved that there are many versions of the above six literary sketches, and there are many differences between different versions, which can be used to study the inheritance relationship.Among them, the engraved edition of Ming Jiajing(1522-1566)collected by Peking University Library of Supplement to Wu Zhong Philosophers’ Continued Notes and the Qing manuscript of Liu’s Weijing Bookstore in the National Library of China have different contents and complement each other. The official and private bibliographies of the Ming and Qing Dynasties do not agree on the classification of the works mentioned above by the Huang Wei’s family, but modern scholars generally regard them as literary sketches. The motives of Huang wei’s family’s literary sketches are not only to explain the commonness of "the study of officials",but also to have different interests: Huang Wei’s intention was to criticize and achieve his own goals;Huang Xingzeng’s purpose was to clarify historical concepts and reward friends in the countryside;Huang Jishu’s interest was to admire the noble scholars and promote the moral integrity;Huang Luzeng’s purpose was to complement his historical shortcomings and moral integrity. The writing style can be summarized into several kinds, such as the framework of categories, the story arrangement according to the time sequence, and the deliberately clear regional clues. Its compilation process shows the characteristics of attaching importance to adaptation, good at commentaries and fine collation. The thoughts and implications of the literary sketches include natural treasures and wonders, emphasis on commerce, and advocating recluse. The artistic characteristics of the literary sketches are prominently embodied in the design of articles reflecting each other, the combination of narration in the writing method of historical biography, and the interesting and ingenious word games. The academic value of the literary sketches were mainly reflected in the subject matter of its literary sketches and the documentary materials. The former promoted the expansion of the subject matter and the enrichment of the subject type, while the latter proved that the materials recorded by Huang Wei’s family were widely cited in the works of sutras, historiography, part of literature and collected works. |
