Study On Unconventional Collocation Of State Adjectives And Degree Adverbs From The Perspective Of Teaching Chinese As A Foreign Language

In traditional Chinese grammar,“whether an adjective can be modified by‘hen’”has always been regarded as an important criterion to distinguish nature adjectives from state adjectives,and it has long been a consensus that degree adverbs cannot modify state adjectives.In recent years,the unconventional collocation of degree adverbs and state adjectives(such as “hen xuebai” “shifen bingleng”)has gradually entered the public view,and appears frequently on the network platform.In order to reveal the collocational law of degree adverbs and state adjectives,this paper classifies 671 state adjectives into five categories according to Mr.LüShuxiang’s classification: AA type,ABB type,BA type,AABB type,and the other type.Besides,integrate the classification criteria of comparative meaning,degree,syllable number,subjectivity and objectivity to select 15 degree adverbs: Tai,Hen,Ji,Feichang,Shifen,Yichang,Jiqi,Youxie,Youdianr,Butai,Zui,Geng,Gengjia,Yuefa,Shaowei.Then exhaustively collect and count the collocation of the above 671 state adjectives with 15 degree adverbs in the BCC corpus,and the data of the collocation of five types of state adjectives with different degree adverbs are obtained,which confirms the fact that some state adjectives can be modified by degree adverbs.Further more,use methods of combining quantitative and qualitative analysis,and combine description with explanation,to reveal the rules of collocation of degree adverbs and state adjectives from data,and explore the causes of the structure “degree adverb + state adjective”,from the semantic,pragmatic,syntactic and other angles.Thus it makes a reasonable explanation for the appearance and wide application of such language phenomena as “hen xuebai” and “shifen bingleng”.By investigating the collocation of state adjectives and degree adverbs,this paper puts forward some suggestions on the teaching of state adjectives from the aspects of the processing of knowledge points in textbooks and teaching,so as to provide some new ideas for the teaching of state adjectives in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.
