Research On Female Suicide Phenomenon Under The Concept Of Marriage And Family In Late Qing Dynasty And Republic Of China

Suicide,as a kind of social pathology,has been endangering social public security.However,there is a serious phenomenon of female suicide in China.This phenomenon not only exists in modern society,but also the high rate of female suicide occurred in modern times.During this period,due to the collision between Western civilization and Confucian civilization,society was also in a turning period of "unprecedented changes in a thousand years".The reasons for female suicide in Ming and Qing Dynasties changed from the single "festival" martyrdom and suicide due to family disputes to more aspects,and the ways of suicide became more complex.According to the statistics of domestic affairs of major cities in the last century,female suicide is mainly due to family and marriage.It is more worthy of attention and meaningful to study female suicide in modern times from the background of the change of concept of marriage and family.There are many academic achievements on the study of the suicide of "women" in the Qing Dynasty and the young women suicide in the Republic of China,but there are some differences in the female suicide in these two neighboring periods,mainly due to the difference of the change of concept caused by the social environment.Therefore,this paper will analyze female suicide and its differences based on local archives and historical records of the late Qing Dynasty,magazines and periodicals of the Republic of China,and then explain other reasons for female suicide in the late Qing Dynasty and the intervention mechanism for female suicide in the Republic of China.Finally,gender theory is used to explore the change of female suicide.In the modern transition period,due to the introduction of new ideas and new civilization,the tradition of "martyrdom" was abandoned all over the country.Women should have paid more attention to the right to life.However,female suicide did not decrease at this time.Secondly,starting from the local archives and official historical records,this paper analyzes the social status and rights of women in the late Qing Dynasty,and then analyzes the married women who committed suicide because of family disputes and the phenomenon of martyrdom of "listed women" recorded in the historical records from "Southern Archives",and discusses the social problems reflected behind these phenomena.Vision will be focused on during the period of the republic of China,again from married female suicide have bias towards the trend of unmarried women,for the cause of this change,is popular in the introduction of new open mind,they are feeling in advanced western civilization,follow own love and marriage,and the influence of the new education young women want to get rid of traditional bondage,they delivered their demands to death.Then it analyzes the change of female concept and the characteristics of female suicide in the Republic of China,which is precisely because of the contradiction between the change of concept and the lag of the time background.Finally,it analyzes the women who committed suicide for other reasons in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period,and explains the intervention and rescue mechanism for female suicide in the Republic of China period,in order to provide certain experience and lessons for the modern such a high rate of female suicide.Abandon the previous "oppression-resistance" research model of female suicide,this paper tries to explain another perspective of female suicide from the perspective of gender.The paper also discusses the change of women’s right to life from passivity to initiative in the late Qing Dynasty due to the influence of new ideas on women in the Republic of China,and analyzes that the increase in the suicide rate of women in the Republic of China is the result of their choice of life,which is also the embodiment of the rise of women’s status.
