| This report,based on the corpus of 595 compositions of sophomore from School of Chinese Language and Culture of Mae Fah Luang University,analyses the usage and biased errors of demonstrative pronouns “zhe/na”.In analyzing the usage of demonstrative pronouns “zhe/na”,the use frequency of them is counted and reference is also analyzed in this paper.The findings show that the use frequency of demonstrative pronouns “zhe·li/na·li” is higher than that of“zher/nar” when they are used to refer to places as attributives modifying nouns in spite of distance while the use frequency of “zher/nar” is higher than that of“zhe·li/na·li” when used to refer to places constituting prepositional object phrases with prepositions.And the words “zhe·me/na·me” are mostly used to refer to degree while the words “zheyang /nayang” are mostly used to refer to ways.In analyzing the usage of biased errors of demonstrative pronouns “zhe/na”,the number of addition,blends,omission,overrepresentation and misordering is counted by the writer and some examples are analyzed.From this,it can be found that some students refer to places by adding “zhe/na” after the preposition "zai" and the words“zher/nar” are misused to refer to objects but the words “zher·li” are used to refer to places by the students.That is,they put the word “zheyang” behind the verbs which is supposed to be put before them to refer to ways or the content.Besides,the reasons for biased errors such as negative transfer from mother tongue,generalization of target language rules,misleading teaching materials and teachers’ teaching mistakes are also included.And the findings suggest that the misordering is mostly the result of negative transfer from mother tongue and misusing“zher/nar”to refer to objects or using“zher·li”to refer to places results from generalization of target language rules.Meanwhile,adding “na” before the object of clause is misled by the foreign language annotation “that” in the textbook. |
