"Trace"as A Creative Methodology

From the moment an artist puts a pen on a canvas,he begins to create traces.These traces are presented in a very diverse way in art works,so they can also produce unique aesthetic value.For the viewer,the eyes can see these marks,the skin can touch these marks,and when we close our eyes,these marks also leave an impression in our mind,forming different psychological feelings.For individual artists,traces serve as a record of the passage of time in the creation process and a confirmation of the individual’s "being here" state.After the completion of the work,these traces can be sorted out and analyzed in the visual,tactile and psychological categories,so as to form a unique thinking under individual experience.In this paper,how to use the theory of artistic media,visual perception psychology,theory of deconstruction and hermeneutics,the phase change process by describing individual artistic experience,try in the process of refining,expanding and traceability,which interprets the trace in the visual and tactile language form,and the destruction and reconstruction in the formation of art of personalized expression.This paper tries to express that the way of meaning generation of art works not only depends on the final state of completion,they are generated from the instantaneous psychological feelings of the artist in the creation,on the other hand,as a text for interpretation,the meaning of the work is also open to the reader.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter elaborates the background and significance of the research,analyzes domestic and foreign studies and cases,and explains the motivation,sources and methods of individual creation.The second chapter,from the perspective of visual,discusses the emotional expression of images,the perceptual difference and ideographic function in visual reproduction,the new meaning of image reconstruction,and the visual properties of different materials and media.The third chapter,under the tactile experience to feel the traces of the image,the use of texture language,and the personal creation of the symbol "Braille" to explore the meaning of images and media materials.The fourth chapter summarizes personal creation from the perspective of time,explores the trace as the imprint in time and space and the traction of personal memory,and studies the significance of the destructiveness and reconstruction of the trace.This paper tries to explore the general thinking mode behind similar works from the individual art creation and establish the connection between the individual and the group.Through combing and reflecting on the context of my own creation,I hope to enhance the further cognition of future artistic creation and point out a clearer direction for future experiments.
