Wittgenstein’s Private Language Theory And Its Post-modern Effect

"Private language" is a pioneering issue in Wittgenstein’s philosophy.Wittgenstein has refuted it in many works,but there is no denying the research value of this issue.On the one hand,The concept of "private language" involves many fields such as psychology,and the issue of "private language" has always been the core issue of Wittgenstein’s ideological research.On the other hand,the post-modern society and culture show many characteristics and a series of complex appearances,its anti essentialism way of thinking and philosophical orientation are also highly related to the characteristics of "private language".This paper studies "private language" from a methodological perspective rather than a logical concept,aiming to propose a methodological interpretation that fits in with the characteristics of postmodernism,so that we can face the postmodern mode of thinking and its internal laws,rather than the traditional interpretation that describes the postmodern characteristics in the form of negation from the perspective of modern thinking.First of all,following Wittgenstein’s attitude of refuting "private language",this paper expounds the concept of "private language",which is mainly reflected in the analysis of internal elements and external discussion environment--"language game",so as to prepare for the reconstruction of the concept of "private language" in the sense of methodology in the following.In the context of "language game",this paper tries to find the place where "private language" can be reasonably discussed from the perspective of language users,so as to extract the methodological core of "private language"--the estrangement between individuals and community,the tendency of individualization and unification of community agreement and the fragmentation of agreement.Next,combining the core elements of the refined methodology with the postmodern phenomenon,it is analyzed that the essence of a series of problems in the postmodern society lies in the abuse of "private language" thinking in different degrees.Combined with Wittgenstein’s ideological understanding,this paper infers that the reason for this abuse is people’s misunderstanding of "world picture".In other words,because of the "loss of certainty" characteristic of post-modern society,people have attachment to their own world view,which is a kind of wrong cognition that views as facts.Finally,this paper puts forward corresponding solutions to this kind of misconception,that is,to follow Wittgenstein’s "therapeutic philosophy" concept and eliminate the certainty illusion of "private language" thinking.
