Learning motivation is an important fact that will affect learning results.To promot Chinese teaching in Thailand,it is of great significance to study Thai students’ learning motivation.Through questionnaire survey and case interview,this paper compares and analyzes the motivation types and the their effects in Chinese learners in Rajamangala University Of Technclogy Rattanakosin(short as RUTR)and Huachiew Chalermprakiet University(short as HCU).From the perspective of language testing,learning results and learning environment,this paper will do an action research on 91 college students,which analyzed the gender,age,grade,origin,personality,learning time,learning experience and Chinese level that affect Thai students’ Chinese learning motivation.The results show as follows.Firstly,learning motivation of Chinese majors of RUTR is higher than that of students of HCU.Secondly,these two universities have the strongest instrumental motivation at language testing and the lowest motivation at learning results.The students of RUTR have the highest intensity in learning environment and the students of HCU have the highest intensity in language testing.Secondly,expect the instrumental motivation of college students in different genders at language testing,there is no significant difference in the overall learning motivation in these two universities.Thirdly,the differences specifically are as follows.Girls’ confidence and achievement in Chinese learning are much higher than boys’,and so do girls’ motivation to study abroad.The extroverted students are more optimistic and confident than other students.Chinese students pay more attention to China’s economic and political dynamics than non-Chinese students.Finally,according to the analysis and research results of questionnaires and interviews,this paper put forward some suggestions on promoting Chinese learning motivation for students of two universities in Thailand. |
