An Analysis Of The Playing Styles And Performance Techniques Of Medtner’s "Memory Sonata"

Nicholas Karlovitch Medtner was a famous Russian composer and pianist from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century,and he was in the same period as Rachmaninov,Tchaikovsky,Glinka and other famous musicians.But for one reason or another,Medtner is almost unknown,and that hasn’t stopped him from making music.In that period of social unrest,he concentrated on his creation,retained his own unique musical style,and left endless musical wealth to later generations.I will appreciate "Sonata of Memories"from the following aspects.First,the background and life of Medtner.Second,to appreciate the music style of Medtner.Thirdly,this first work is carefully analyzed,especially for its performance techniques for in-depth study.This paper aims to provide readers with new ideas and perspectives to understand and interpret Medtner’s sonatas,help readers understand the philosophical thoughts reflected in his music creation,and awaken people’s thinking and attention to this great pianist.
