Written by Xu Shen in the Eastern Han Dynasty,Origin of Chinese Characters has attracted the attention of scholars from ancient to modern times for its richness of content,who have been studying,exploring and interpreting the book over the ages.This thesis,which is based on the study of Origin of Chinese Characters and Commentary on Origin of Chinese Characters by Duan Yuche of the Qing Dynasty,collects excavated texts related to the ritual system,sorts out,defines,counts and explains the ritual characters with the radical “Yi”.It also notes archaeological results related to clothing and information reflecting the clothing system in excavated documents as circumstantial evidence,so as to supplement and amendment the deficiencies in the interpretation of Characters with the Radical “Yi” of Origin of Chinese Characters,and to deepen the understanding of the ritual characters with the radical “Yi”.The paper is divided into four chapters,including Introduction - introducing the current status of the studies on characters with the radical “Yi” of Origin of Chinese Characters,and the research ideas of this thesis;Definition of the Ritual Characters with the Radical “Yi”;Statistics and Interpretation of the Ritual Characters with the Radical “Yi”;and Circumstantial Evidence of the Ritual Characters with the Radical“Yi”.
