Research On Xiangtan Fire Dragon Stereoscopic Book Design Based On Visual Narrative Theory

Xiangtan Fire Dragon is an intangible cultural heritage of Hunan Province.Its inheritance and development have special cultural significance for the protection of Xiangtan local traditional culture,and also have realistic economic and social significance.On the other hand,traditional paper books have been weakened by the strong influence of electronic books.In this situation,pop-up books have become a rising star.Pop-up books are based on their unique structure and interactivity.The scenes in the pages of the books are more visual and interactive,which can increase the novelty and pleasure of the readers in the process of reading.Based on this,by applying the theory of visual narrative reading will pop-up book form and design with local characteristic combining the preservation and transmission of traditional culture and visual narrative expression of pop-up books to meet the readers’ reading experience,make the reader to a new and interesting reading way to contact and understand the traditional culture of rich in local features,xiangtan dragon culture.Through a systematic review of the literature on the theory of visual narrative,the method of applying visual narrative in the reading design of pop-up books is found.Through the analysis and summary of a series of literature on the history,design theory and method of pop-up books,the types,development and current situation of pop-up books at home and abroad are understood,and the shortcomings of existing pop-up book design are found.A novel visual representation of the intangible cultural heritage of Xiangtan Fire Dragon is carried out.First of all,the carrier form is considered and positioned,and the design features of the pop-up book of Xiangtan Fire Dragon are defined in terms of the form and structure.Secondly,refining visual elements,summarizing the production skills of Xiangtan Fire Dragon,activity ceremony,dragon dance stories and the status quo of intangible cultural heritage,completing the content setting and illustration of pop-up book.Thirdly,it explores the three-dimensional structure of the book form language.Based on the combination of two-dimensional plane and three-dimensional structure of the narrative content,it looks for the appropriate bearing structure according to the needs of the picture,and then carries out layout design with the assistance of words.Finally,it is the book binding and cutting and collage.Through the design experience of "Xiangtan Huolong pop-up book",it is realized that the proper and clever use of visual narrative theory can make the reading experience design of pop-up book more humanized,so that readers can get a more novel and effective reading experience.
