An Analysis Of The Characters And Singing Skills In Aida’s Aria "Ah, My Hometown"

Verdi was the most representative opera composer in the 19 th century Italian opera renaissance.He was known as the "opera master" for he created many popular operas throughout his life.Aida,one of the most popular operas in the world,was created by Verdi in his mature period,always being performed on the world opera stage.As the pinnacle of Verdi’s late creation,this opera embodies his creative idea of patriotism and national spirit at this stage.Aida highlights the grand and mournful opera theme,embodied in the main and auxiliary structure composed of falsehood and truth,not only retaining the traditional Italian music style,but also integrating the form of French grand opera.These creative ideas contributed Aida’s unique artistic style.This paper takes AIDA’s aria "Ah,My Hometown" as the research object,carries out the research from the artistic features of opera,musical images of characters,skills of role interpretation and stage performance,aiming to provide references for the second creation of singers in the future.This article is divided into three parts.The first part summarizes and sorts out the three different periods of Verdi’s opera creation and related works,and then analyzes its creative characteristics,aiming to deeply interpret Verdi’s works from the artistic features.In the second part,it briefly describes the plot of Aida,and analyzes its music image.From the analysis of Aida’s characters and the understanding of the characters expressed by music,it may help the singer better tap into Aida’s "inner world" and pave the way for the next chapter.The third part is the key of this paper.It analysis the performance peak which is conducted by the skills of singing,character depiction and performance treatment of stage.
