The discussion of "art" and "reality" in the history of Western literary theory has begun from the "imitation theory" in ancient Greece,until the European critical realism literary trend of thought in the 19 th century,represented by Balzac and Stendhal.Literary works and ideological propositions signify the maturity of realist literary theory,and authenticity,typification,and criticality have become the basic principles of realist creation;in China in the 1920 s and 1930 s,realist literary theory implied the proletariat.The "new realism" attitude of political and revolutionary propaganda needs came to China,and continued to influence Chinese films in its own dissemination and development;filmmakers in the postwar period suffered from political censorship,economic collapse and many other complexities Under the predicament of film creation,he made a further connection and understanding between the "seriousness" of film creation and the "reality" of realist films,and turned the focus of creation to the basic aesthetic characteristics of realism,such as authenticity and typicality.Based on the creative principles of realism in European critical realism literary theories,combined with the characteristics of its dissemination and development in China,this paper studies the textual and creative characteristics of Chinese realist films in the late 1940 s,and discovers the impact of this period on social reality.The reflection and expression of the film has artistic breakthrough and innovation with life and poetry as the main characteristics,and the profound accumulation of life of film creators during the Anti-Japanese War is the key to achieve the "real aesthetics" of this realistic film;during this period Many typical characters,represented by intellectuals,family women,and street children,appeared in the realist films,and the characters were aggregated in a unique way of familyization and group imagery,showing the typical environmental characteristics of the times and the social psychology of the times.In the process of integrating with the political and revolutionary propaganda needs,the characterization has got rid of the shortcomings of single character and conceptualization,and has reached the aesthetic maturity of realism;Combining the traditional "movie" tradition with the critique of realist films,combined with the method of direct criticism,it achieved a sharp critique of the extremely turbulent and dark social reality of the period.Relying on the foundation of realist creation techniques in the left-wing film movement in the 1930 s,and the tempering of film art skills during the AntiJapanese War,it originated from the accumulation of film artists’ profound life practice during the Anti-Japanese War,The film has achieved unprecedented deepening and maturity in terms of aesthetics and artistry in the late 1940 s.When realist films of the late 1940 s entered into international exchanges in the new era,they were also criticized by the international film industry as having a "fiery spirit of realism".Starting from the European critical realism literature and art theory,the article tries to grasp the artistic characteristics of realist films in this period by means of text analysis,historical data analysis,comparative analysis,etc.,and makes a small effort to enrich the study of Chinese films in the postwar period(the late 1940s).
