Since its birth, film has been regarded as the crystallization of technology and art.The ingestion of images, the development of film, and the projection of images, all require the support and cooperation of various machinery and technologies. It can be said that in the past 120 years, every step in the advancement of film art has been accompanied by technology. Now,as the world enters the third decade of the 21 st century, artificial intelligence is becoming a strategic technology leading a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation.Since it was proposed in the summer of 1956,artificial intelligence has undergone a transformation from concept construction to implementation, and it is profoundly changing the way people produce, live and learn. And naturally, artificial intelligence has also been widely used in the film business. This paper firstly sorts out the literature and research on artificial intelligence technology related to image coloring, and through the history of film coloring we try to find the point of convergence between film coloring and artificial intelligence. Then it sorts out the controversy and ethics of coloring in black and white films, explores the relationship between color and the realism of images, and proposes several principles for coloring: enhancing the realism of the film, balancing technology and art, protecting the historical accuracy of the film, and respecting the original art concept,in order to guide and standardize the practice of coloring. It is hoped that through the artificial intelligence coloring practice of "The Eternal Wave",it can provide some references for the application of artificial intelligence in the future’s film production and restoration.
