| When portable cameras and video recorders gradually become an important part of people’s life,dance appears much more frequently on the screen,and video has become the preferred tool to record the limited space and time of dance.Film artists and dance artists have also stepped beyond their original practice to explore the possibilities of screen-based dance creation.As a new art form derived from the combination of dance and video art,dance documentary brings a new wave of narrative to dance.After a long period of development,dance documentaries have formed a pattern with increasingly broad and diverse content themes,with increasingly rich technical means.This article systematically sorts out the history of dance documentaries,and in the form of individual cases,examines the functional shift from “recording” to “documentation” in the development of many domestic and foreign dance documentaries in various records with different themes and creative contexts.The development of techniques and the enhancement of the value of dance documentaries are analyzed and discussed.At the same time,the article explains that dance documentaries not only preserve the performance and details of dance,but also pass on the history of the evolution of dance art in the future through the medium of video,giving dance a value beyond itself,including research,education and cultural communication.In addition,this paper discusses and reflects on the current situation and problems of dance documentaries in China,and analyzes the lack of domestic dance documentaries and the causes of the problems. |
