A Study Of Dialect Culture In Chen Yan’s Novel Protagonist

Protagonist is an award-winning work of the 10 th Mao Dun Literature Award.The work has won unanimous praise from the majority of readers for its grand narrative characteristics and profound cultural connotation.The author Chen Yan is a writer from Shaanxi.He has always been rooted in the local land,adheres to the concept of realistic creation,and uses dialect writing to build a simple regional background and broad era background for his works.This paper is the first time to investigate the dialect corpus of the novel from the perspective of cultural linguistics,trying to analyze the cultural connotation behind the dialect of the work through the collation and analysis of the text dialect corpus.Besides the introduction,this paper is divided into four chapters.The introduction part introduces the writer Chen Yan and his novel the protagonist,the general situation of the use of dialect in the text,as well as the research methods and significance of this paper.The first chapter is the study of dialect nouns and regional culture in protagonist.This part classifies the dialect nouns in the novel according to three aspects: agriculture,life and character appellation.By analyzing the cultural connotation of individual dialect nouns,it restores the living background and growth environment of the characters in the novel,and then describes the material and spiritual culture of Shaanxi Province according to the interpretation of the cultural connotation of dialect nouns in the text.The second chapter is the study of dialect verbs and regional culture in protagonist.This part extracts the dialect verbs related to production and labor,daily communication and living habits in the novel,analyzes and interprets them in terms of cultural connotation,restores the daily life and communication conditions of Shaanxi people,and then arranges and studies the folk customs in Shaanxi.The third chapter is the study of dialect adjectives and regional culture in protagonist.This part divides the dialect adjectives in the novel into three categories,perceives the temperament state of the Shaanxi people through the interpretation of the adjectives that modify the character’s expression,understands the values of the Shaanxi people through the analysis of the adjectives that express the character’s quality,and realizes the Shaanxi people’s pursuit of a better quality of life according to the interpretation of the adjectives that describe the state of life.The fourth chapter is the study of dialect idioms and regional culture in protagonist.This part collects and arranges the dialect idioms in the novel and analyzes them according to three categories: Xiehouyu,idioms and proverbs.These dialect idioms reflect the positive and optimistic life attitude and rich and profound life wisdom of the Shaanxi people in their daily life.
