Mongolian Zheng is a kind of ethnic musical instrument with a long history.It has a direct connection with the Mongolian origin,religious belief and the lifestyle of immigrants.Mongolian Zheng is also an important part of the Mongolian musical instrument family.It carries the glorious history of the development of Mongolian music.Mongolian zither is based on the scale order set by the pentatonic scale(i.e.Gong Shang Jiao Zheng Yu).Different from the general 21 string zither,due to the special position of dislocation arrangement,the playing skills also have their particularity.This paper studies the traditional playing techniques and inheritance and development of Mongolian zither based on the playing techniques of Hu Chu Tu.In the first part of this paper,the generation,development,distribution and structural form of Mongolian zither,as well as the traditional four tones of Mongolian zither: Chagan tune,hagasi tune,heheili tune and tigle wood tune,as well as the scales and key methods and left-hand and right-hand playing skills are described In the second part of this paper,Hu Chu Tu,the inheritor of Mongolian Zheng,is interviewed to study his playing skills and repertoire.Through investigation and research,Hu Chu Tu’s playing skills can be divided into four parts.First,huchutu’s traditional playing method,his playing skills are quite different from other artists.The author makes a comparison between the original score of guruchagan ASR and guruchagan ASR played by Hu chutu.The second is to analyze the melody,musical structure,mode,beat and rhythm of the seven folk songs played by Hu Chu Tu.The third is a detailed analysis of the musical form of the solo Naiman ASR(eight tone ASR)played by Hu chutu.Fourth,it analyzes and expounds the musical form of the folk song ensemble ulemjin qinar played by Hu chutu.Through comparative analysis,the playing skills of folk songs,or solos,or ensembles played by Hu chutu show the unique skills of Mongolian Zheng.It also enriches the traditional performance method of Mongolian zither,and makes a practical attempt to inherit the traditional performance method and innovative development of Mongolian zither.In the third part of this paper,the inheritance and development of Mongolian Zheng are discussed.Firstly,the representative performance repertoire,performance style and performance techniques are inherited through family inheritance,social inheritance,master apprentice inheritance,school inheritance and information inheritance,so as to achieve the inheritance and development of Mongolian Zheng.The second is the development of Mongolian Zheng,which mainly focuses on the improvement of Mongolian Zheng,performance skills and innovative repertoire.It also puts forward exploratory methods and suggestions on how to carry out reform,innovation and development trend based on the traditional repertoire and skills of Mongolian Zheng.Through the research of this paper,the author explores the contemporary inheritance and development of Mongolian zither.Using the research theory of ethnomusicology,the author makes a comparative study of the past and present of Mongolian zither.By analyzing the performance skills of Hu chutu,the inheritor of Mongolian zither,as a theoretical support,it can enlighten future generations and the inheritance and development of Mongolian zither art.
