Cherry is one of the plants with a long history of cultivation in China and one of the plant imageries that are habitually seen in ancient Chinese literature,which has certain research value in literature and culture.This dissertation is a relatively in-depth literary and cultural study of the cherry theme,taking Tang and Song poetry as the main object of study.In addition to an introduction and a conclusion,the full text is divided into three chapters.The first chapter introduces the natural properties and practical value of cherries,sorts out the development of cherry poetry from the pre-Qin dynasty to the Tang and Song dynasties,and explains the performance and reasons for the prosperity of cherry poetry in the Tang and Song dynasties.Cherry is a woody plant of the Rosaceae family,with edible,medicinal and ornamental values.The cherry as a literary imagery first appeared in the Wei and Jin dynasties and flourished in the Tang and Song dynasties.The first section of the second chapter takes Tang poems as the main object of study,and explores the ritualistic color and symbolic meaning of cherries through the interpretation of the activities of recommending cherries,giving cherries and cherry feast in the poems;the second section grasps the poets’ emotions and aspirations through the analysis of Tang and Song cherry poetry works.These emotions mainly include sad spring boudoir grievances,parting lovesickness,and disillusioned prickly world.In the third chapter,the aesthetics of the cherry poems in Tang and Song dynasties are examined from three aspects,from the surface to the inside,and the beauty of the cherry is comprehensively viewed: the beauty of the flowering tree and the fruit;the beauty of the landscape is divided into the beauty of the moon reflecting the cherry tree and the beauty of the imagery;the beauty of the divine rhythm enters the spiritual aesthetic level,and the beauty of the cherry is divided into three aspects: free and wild,tough and unyielding,and quiet and serene. |
