The Typeface is written art based on certain decorative principles and visual beauty.The emergence of the typeface is the embodiment of the specific needs of social development and is produced in the environment of traditional and non-traditional collision.The early typeface can be traced back to the "bird and insect books" in the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period,while the modern typeface developed in the 19 th century.The Chinese traditional culture collided with the western modern cultural trend of thought,the "Bauhaus" design thought was introduced and the emerging design concept was formed,and various western art ideas were merged.To a certain extent,the typeface in this period became the result of the "west wind spreading to the East",The typeface in the period of the Republic of China also gradually formed its unique design style and distinctive characteristics of the times.The typeface in the period of the Republic of China showed a diversified trend,which was mainly reflected in the communication carriers such as books,newspapers,advertisements,packaging,light signs and calendar signs.The typeface on the cover of the publications of the Republic of China can be regarded as a more prominent part of the Research of typeface in the Republic of China.The design styles are diversified,and the typeface with different themes also reflect the aesthetic differentiation characteristics of different audiences.The typeface design in the period of the Republic of China plays an important role in the development history of Chinese character design,and has guiding significance for modern character design,character typesetting and printing.Firstly,taking the background of publications in the period of the Republic of China as the research starting point,this paper classifies the fine typeface of publications in the period of the Republic of China according to historical documents and works,and summarizes the reasons for the rapid development of character design at that time.Secondly,it makes a basic classification of the typeface in publications of the Republic of China,combined with the image data of the typeface collected from relevant magazines,and analyzes the necessary relationship between the typeface in the Republic of China and traditional calligraphy art,song style and bold style.Thirdly,it analyzes the attribute categories and formal characteristics of the typeface on the cover of the publications of the Republic of China,and summarizes the design law of the typeface on the cover of the publications of the Republic of China combined with the specific aesthetic concept at that time.The typeface design is the result of the unity of connotation and formal beauty.Finally,according to the design practice of the creators of the typeface in the period of the Republic of China,sort out the leading aesthetic concepts and design ideas of the typeface in the period of the Republic of China,combine the typeface with network hot words,and think about the new formal language expression of the typeface based on the present.The typeface of the Republic of China have great expressive characteristics and formal beauty,which is the expression of integrating China and the West and connecting ancient and modern times.Although the typeface of the Republic of China were influenced by Western art,there is no doubt that the time value of the typeface in the period of the Republic of China is important to the development of modern character design.Chinese modern and future designers should focus on the text itself,establish a sense of innovation,deeply tap the spiritual and cultural core from the tradition,and examine the values under the background of the new era.Secondly,we should open our horizons and try to absorb the infinite nutrients brought by Western cultural trends.New technologies and tool innovation have become the hardware support for the rapid development of Chinese design.Various phenomena show that Oriental design or Chinese design is on the high-speed track and going to the world.
