| Sharing a border with China, the Kyrgyzstan’s domestic political situation are closely related to China. It was once called the "little Switzerland in Central Asia" for its magnificent natural beauty.Yet for more than two decades after its independence,Kyrgyzstan, with its troubled politics, sluggish economy and volatile society, bore little resemblance to Switzerland.Kyrgyzstan has poor governance, serious corruption and a poor standard of living. So far,its "Democratic" is a process that full of hope and disappointment. The "Tulip Revolution" of March 2005 and the "Second Revolution" of April 2010 violently overthrew the power of the former President. It was not until 2017 that Sooronbai Jeenbekov and Almazbek Atambayev achieved the first peaceful transfer of power in Kyrgyzstan’s history.Given the complex domestic situation in Kyrgyzstan,we have to rethink whether Kyrgyzstan, which lacks relatively democratic soil, can foster a democratic order suitable for its national conditions. As a country in transition, the development of politics, democracy and society in Kyrgyzstan is a good case to study.Based on Giovanni Sartori’s theory of political parties and the number of relevant parties and their inter-party activities in Kyrgyzstan, this paper considers that the current political party system in Kyrgyzstan is moderate and multi-party.Based on that truth, this paper expounds the long process from the enlightenment stage to the growth stage and then to the final formation of the moderate multi-party system in Kyrgyzstan. The final establishment of the moderate multi-party system is an important outcome of the development of democratic politics in Kyrgyzstan. In order to hold the power, various political parties form governing coalition alternately.Under the moderate multi-party system, the Kyrgyz is relatively stable and the basic political rights of its citizens are protected. On the basis of sorting out the forming process of the moderate multi-party system in Kyrgyzstan, this paper discusses the main problems of the current moderate multi-party system in Kyrgyzstan.First, there is a lack of visible representation of Kyrgyz political parties;Second,Kyrgyzstan’s moderate multi-party system has a high degree of fragmentation;Third,Kyrgyzstan’s modest multi-party system is not fully functional. This paper argues that in the future Kyrgyzstan should establish a political party system suitable to its national conditions, improve relevant laws instead of only relying on the so-called democratic elections to solve the complex north-south contradictions in Kyrgyzstan. |
