Social Work Practice Research To Improve The Social Support Of Urban Low-income Family Members

The urban Low-income groups and its family members belong to the vulnerable group in the city,which is not only reflected in the poor economy to afford their own life,but also in the psychology,interpersonal relationship,social support and other levels,they unable to communicate with others in an equal position.Therefore,when providing services to the urban Low-income families,we not only pay attention to the economy,but also pay attention to its psychology,emotion and other aspects,in order to give them support.Through the questionnaire survey and semi-structured interview,this paper analyzes the basic situation of the social support of the Low-income family members in H community,deals with the problem of the urban Low-income family members from the perspective of social work,and explores the strategies and methods to improve and enhance the social support of the urban Low-income family members.The social support in this paper mainly starts from subjective support and objective support.Subjective support mainly refers to the emotional experience and satisfaction degree that the service object is respected and understood in the society;objective support mainly refers to the material assistance to the service object,the establishment of social network,the existence of group relationship and social participation.In this paper,I’ve investigated urban Low-income family members from eight aspects including the basic information,the situation of enjoying the Low-income allowance,the living condition,the self-cognition,the family relationship,the social relationship,the social support and the community service to obtain the relevant data and the written materials of them.After studying the current situation and causes of the social support of the urban Low-income family members,and reflecting with the professional intervention,I’ve obtained the corresponding experience.Finally,the corresponding opinions are put forward from the social work intervention strategy and the relief of the social support dilemma of the urban Low-income family members.The data show that the overall social support of urban Low-income family members is weak,the objective support source is single,the subjective support is scarce,the social support utilization rate is low,and the social circle is unstable.It is found that the reasons are both from the individual level and the community level.The individual level mainly includes its own physical defects,education level,low level of work skills,deviation of self-identification,lack of communication with other groups,and the formation of "welfare dependence ";the community level mainly includes the exclusion and discrimination of community residents,and low Low-income allowance amount with a single material assistance.Through practice,this paper shows that when social work starts to apply corresponding services for urban Low-income family members we should respect its self-determination and uniqueness,choose suitable social work service mode,provide comprehensive social work service and pay attention to the link and integration of resources.It’s helpful to improve and alleviate the plight of social support for urban Low-income family members.
