The theory of extinction of the state is not a utopian ideal. On the contrary,it is rooted in the dialectical relationship between the state and civil society.By understanding and criticizing the civil society, the destiny of the state becomes clearer. From a macro perspective, the connotation of the state’s extinction is represented by the demise of the state’s class attributes and its political ruling function, and the manifestation of the state’s sociality and social management functions. That is,the state has come from society and finally returned to the historical development process of society. From a microscopic point of view,"extinction of the state" represents an active abandonment of the ternary structure among labour, capital and state. The process of national extinction reflects the process from alienation to dissolution of the relationship between the state and labor. With the gradual progress of extinction of the state, the alienation structure will gradually transition to a new look.Extinction of the state is not the end and abolition of the form of state, but a return to and surpassing the essence of the state. In Marx’s view, extinction of the state represents the establishment and realization of the union of free men and human liberation. In the union of free individuals, there will be no alienation and materialization between individuals, communities, and society, but a harmonious and unified relationship that shapes and accomplishes each other.By then, people will be completely and completely liberated. The dictatorship of the proletariat is a necessary transitional stage for the proletarian state to successfully reach its own destination. The duality of the state determines that extinction of the state exhibits volatile characteristics during this transitional period.Only by understanding the identity between the dictatorship of the proletariat and democracy can we profoundly realize that extinction of the state is different from the practicality of anarchism and historical determinism. On one hand,Marx’s thoughts on extinction of the state are reflected in the prospect of a distant future, and on the other hand,it is also a blank of practical problems. Therefore,Lenin and Gramsci combined their own historical background and specific national conditions to supplement and develop the issues of the proletarian revolutionary dictatorship and the state ’s social functions, respectively, demonstrating the contemporary vitality of the state’s extinction.studying this theory will help us better understand the meaning and way of the existence of the country, and better anticipate the development of human society, thus providing theoretical inspiration for China’s modernization.
