| The conflict in the three southern provinces of Thailand that has been occurring since 2004 is a big problem for Thailand that the government has always been interested in and trying to find solutions to.Malay Muslims who previously lived in Kingdom of Pattani,formerly a part of Malaya,wanted to separate Pattani from Thai rule,and established Pattani as an independent selfgoverning state in the form of Islam.In this thesis,I will discuss the roots,background and causes of the problems that influenced Malay Muslims to initiate a separatist movement.I will analyze the causes of this problem,starting from racial and religious conflicts to the flaws and errors of the Thai regime and the governments in different eras that made Muslims feel the inequality and racial differences.The violence arising from the actions of the separatist movement has severely affected the three southern provinces of Thailand,making many people,soldiers and government officials were injured and killed.Due to the problems lasted more than ten years,they not only affected the lives and property of the local people.But it also affects the psychological,economic and daily life of the people in the area as well.In addition,this thesis provides an analysis of attack patterns and strategies,as well as a list of the separatist movements that have the greatest influence on terrorism in the three southern provinces of Thailand.Including the development of the separatist movement from the past to the present.As separatist movements are associated with some of the terrorist groups in Southeast Asia.Of course,the conflicts in the three southern provinces of Thailand also have some effects on the ASEAN community.Therefore,the conflict in the three southern provinces of Thailand has drawn attention from other ASEAN countries,especially Malaysia. |
