Abe’s Neo Conservative Diplomatic Ideas And The Policy Toward China

In recent years,Japan’s right deviation has become more and more serious,which has affected the development of Sino Japanese relations.Japanese Neoconservatism is an important factor in this phenomenon."Neoconservatism" originated in the late 1970 s,with the purpose of building Japan into a world-wide political and military power.Now,as the governing alliance cabinet,the Democratic Party cabinet and the Liberal Democratic Party cabinet,the policy platform and foreign policy guiding ideology affect Japan.Shinzo Abe was also deeply influenced by this trend of thought.During his reign,he focused on improving Japan’s external image,enhancing Japan’s security and regional discourse power,and economic development.Therefore,in the face of China’s rapid development,when economic cooperation brings more benefits than mere containment,especially under the pressure of the US trade protection policy,Abe’s foreign policy toward China presents two sides: on the one hand,he regards China as an opponent that prevents Japan from gaining the right to speak in East Asia,increases Japan’s legitimacy by denying history,and strengthens Japan US alliance and cooperation with Japan On the other hand,he did not refuse to cooperate with China in the joint development of the East China Sea,and strengthened bilateral economic cooperation with China after the United States withdrew from the TPP,actively promoting the process of China Japan South Korea free trade zone.This makes Japan gradually show a diplomatic trend of "relying on the United States politically and China economically" and seeking a balance between the game between China and the United States.The relationship between China and Japan has also improved with this trend.In the post Abe era,the new prime minister,Kan Yiwei,has shown an attitude of inheriting Abe’s diplomatic ideas,but this does not mean that the development of Sino Japanese relations will be smooth sailing.Japan has not given up the right to contain China and plan for Asia,and the alliance between Japan and the United States will not be easily abandoned.There are still many hidden dangers in the development of Sino Japanese relations.In order to cope with the development of Sino Japanese relations in the future,China needs to actively improve its own strength in order to jointly promote the stable development of East Asia with Japan on the basis of ensuring its own security and regional peace.
