Marx And Engels’ Family View And Its Contemporary Enlightenment

Family is the most basic cell of the society,and its harmonious development is closely related to social harmony and stability.Guided by the thought of historical materialism,Marx and Engels explored the historical process of human family development,revealed the general law of family development,and made scientific predictions and prospects for the ideal family in communist society on the above basis.Their research on family issues has not only supplemented and perfected historical materialism,but also provided beneficial enlightenment for the harmonious development of Chinese families today.First of all,the thesis analyzes the forming background of Marx and Engels’ family view.Firstly,the hypocrisy of bourgeois family marriage under capitalist private ownership and the misery of proletarian family under capitalist mode of production are the social background of Marx and Engels’ family view.Secondly,Bachofen’s and Morgan’s family thoughts are the theoretical background of Marx and Engels’ family view.It is in the view of criticizing the capitalist private ownership family,and under the criticism and inheritance of the family thought of predecessors,Marx and Engels began to construct the family view from the perspective of historical materialism.Besides,the thesis discusses the main content of Marx and Engels’ family view.Firstly,along with the contradiction between the family form and the kinship system,the thesis describes the history of family development and evolution,that is,the family evolved from Consanguinity family,Punaluan family and Spouse family to Monogamous family,meanwhile it reveals that the development of material production plays a decisive role in the evolution of family development.Secondly,it discusses the reproductive,economic,political and emotional functions of family starting from the production of material resources and the production by human beings themselves.Thirdly,it looks forward to the main characteristics of the ideal family in the future from the perspective of human’s free and all-round development,that is,marriage is based on love,the goal is to pursue a highly harmonious family relationship and the status of men and women tends to be equal in the ideal family.At last,the thesis expounds the realistic enlightenment provided by Marx and Engels’ family view for the contemporary family construction.Combined with the various problems encountered in the process of contemporary family construction,and based on Marx and Engels’ investigation of family development laws and their prediction and prospect of ideal family in the future,this article summarizes the enlightenment of Marx and Engels’ family view on contemporary family construction,that is,families should conduct "two kinds of productions",and establish correct ideal pursuit and mutually loving family relations.
