Research On The Methodology Of Lukacs’ Mediation Category

History and class consciousness is an important work of young Lukacs turning to Marxism.From the current situation of revolution in Western Europe,this paper reflects and explores the reason why the proletarian revolutionary movement in Western Europe failed.It holds that the loss of proletarian class consciousness is the main reason for the failure.Based on the historical background at that time and the theories he came into contact with,Lukacs thought that Marxism should exist as a methodology and a guiding principle for the proletarian revolutionary movement;Combined with the development of capitalism and dialectics,this paper puts forward the understanding method of intermediary category as a scientific method different from the bourgeoisie.Intermediary category became Lukacs’ methodology to overcome the materialization of capitalism and rebuild the proletarian consciousness.As the basic meaning of methodology,the category of intermediary is a methodology of forming proletarian consciousness from the proletarian standpoint and applying it to the objective society,which has the characteristics of reality and revolution.As a methodology,the category of intermediary relies on the dual subjects of revolution,namely,the proletarian party and the proletariat,and integrates theory and practice with the practice of revolution.The proletarian party instills theory into the proletariat from the outside,through the practice of revolution and the self internalization of the proletariat,Proletarian consciousness comes into being in the dialectical unity of theory and practice;And according to the class consciousness to adjust their class status of practical activities,in the process of gradually forming the overall consciousness,and with this consciousness to guide social practice.Although Lukacs’ theory of intermediary category is based on the thinking of Western European capitalist society,it exists as a methodology and has universality.It is a method to wake up the proletarian consciousness through intermediary category,Both the exploration of proletarian consciousness in the period of new democracy in China and the practice of the Communist Party of Spain in the capitalist environment in peacetime have explanatory power.Therefore,as a methodology,intermediary category has practical significance for proletarian parties to grasp the masses,activate the vitality of the masses’ political participation,and make the masses move from freedom to self-reliance.In this way,we should not only play an active role in proletarian consciousness,but also pay attention to the cultivation of practical activities that tend to the overall development of society.
