the CPC’s Delegation to the Comintren,though not long in existence,has played an important and positive role in the history of the party,especially in the issue of the Anti-Japanese National United Front.Like the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CPC),the CPC’s Delegation has experienced twists and turns in its understanding of the Anti-Japanese National United Front.After the Mukden Incident,the CPC’s Delegation,influenced by the Comintren and its own factors,adhered to the strategy of the lower class United front from 1931 to the end of 1932,restricted the adjustment of the policies of the United Front,and caused great losses to the Chinese revolution.But in this period,the international and domestic situation has undergone great changes.On the one hand,the growing power of fascism,on the other hand,the Japanese invasion of north China.In view of the changes in the situation,the CPC’s Delegation,under the guidance of the Comintern,actively adjusted the strategy of the United Front,and issued the Declaration of 17 January,reflecting to the CPC Central Committee a new understanding of the strategy of the United Front,directed the work of the United Front.During the preparatory process for the Seventh National Congress of the Comintren,the Chinese Communist Party delegation,following the Comintren’s steps in adjusting United front strategy,drafted and published the August 1Proclamation,which pushed forward the policy of “anti-Japanese and opposing Chiang kai-shek”,and actively promote the CPC’s United Front strategy in the international arena.After the seventh national congress of the Comintren,the CPC’s Delegation further deepened its understanding on the issue of cooperation between the KMT and the CPC.Through various channels,the CPC’s Delegation expressed to the KMT its willingness to stop the civil war and cooperate in resisting Japan,thus promoting a change in the CPC’s attitude toward Chiang Kai-shek.The CPC Delegation’s change of attitude on the Anti-Japanese United Front drew the attention of China’s Ruling class,headed by Chiang Kai-shek,it pushed the CPC’s Delegation to negotiate directly with Chiang Kai-shek on behalf of Deng Wenyi and Chen Mingshu on behalf of the19 th Route Army in Moscow.In the process of adjusting policy,Kimiaki shifted from“left” to “right” on the issue of United Front.After the formation of the Anti-Japanese National United Front,one of the duties of the CPC’s Delegation is to consolidate and develop the Anti-Japanese National United Front with the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party as its focus.Kimiaki,who was ordered to return to China,“peddled” his wrong ideas on the United front issue,causing serious damage to the party’s United Front work.At the same time,the KMT frequently caused friction and undermined the United Front.In view of this situation,Ren Bishi and Zhou Enlai went to the Comintern one after another to explain the situation of the War of Resistance against Japan and the situation of the United Front,and to enlist the support of the Comintern for the party’s central line and policy.The CPC’s Delegation promoted the formation of the Anti-Japanese National United Front,won the support of international forces for the CPC,publicized the CPC’s United Front strategy,and made outstanding contributions to the consolidation and development of the Anti-Japanese National United Front,it provides a reference for the party’s United Front work in the new period.
