Empirical Study On Prison Service Reform From The Perspective Of Re-socialization Of Prisoners

The goal of modern prison to reform criminals is to educate and transform prisoners into law-abiding citizens,so that they can return to society successfully at the end of their sentence and no longer commit crimes again.However,the closed penalty execution mode is a kind of outdated socialization process for criminals.Criminals cannot contact the society during the period of serving their sentences,and it is difficult to keep pace with the social development,which makes it difficult for criminals to adapt to the society again.The reform of P prison in Jiangsu Province recent years,the prison actively explores the effective ways of criminals’ re-socialization,implements a series of measures of socialized penalty execution,and has made some achievements but also encountered some difficulties and obstacles at the same time.Due to the lack of legal and implementation system support,the prisoners’ leaving the prison to visit their families fails to be carried out normally.The socialized education of prisoners lacks social care and does not form a complete social assistance and education system,which leads to the lack of social power in the education of prisoners.In the education stage of prisoners leaving prison,the prison also fails to carry out targeted education of prisoners according to their individual needs,and fails to effectively solve the potential difficulties criminals will face when they get out of prison.The three problems above seriously restrict the realization of the goal of criminals’ re-socialization.Therefore,we must start from the top-level design,improving the relevant system and norms of leaving prison to visit families,with the strength of family bond to support the realization of criminals’ re-socialization.What’s more,we could turn to society for help,strengthen the interaction between prison and society,establish and improve the social assistance and education system,and complete the re-socialization education of criminals with the strength of society.Last but not least,based on the social needs of criminals,we should make specific educational contents,solve the practical problems when criminals’ return to society,and ensure the effectiveness of criminals’ re-socialization.
