Disabled groups, because of their own physical and mental disabilities, bring a lot of inconvenience to their daily work and life,at the same time, directly or indirectly bring the burden of life and economic pressure to the family. With the accelerating process of population aging in China, the number of disabled middle-aged and old people is increasing rapidly, and more and more families are involved. The problem of disability will be highlighted as the problem of disabled middle-aged and old people gradually. How to investigate the risk of disability to the family and how to improve the living standard of the middle-aged and elderly disabled families have become the hot issues of social concern.Based on the data of China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study(CHARLS2015),this study studied the impact of disability on the living standard of middle-aged and elderly families.(1)The ADL-IADLS problem set is used to accurately identify the middle-aged and elderly disabled groups.(2)The descriptive statistical analysis method is used to describe the similarities and differences between the middle-aged and elderly disabled families and healthy families in terms of income status, consumption ability, family living facilities and household durable consumer goods ownership.(3)The Entropy-TOPSIS theory is used to measure the living standard of middle-aged and elderly families.(4)Based on the Bayesian-Quantile regression model and Ordered-Logistic model,I choose the disabled members’ age, education level, degree of disability and other variables to explore the effect of disability on the income level, consumption ability and overall living standard of middle-aged and elderly families from discrete and continuous perspectives.(5)I use SOL theoretical model to calculate the extra living cost of middle-aged and elderly disabled families,so as to quantify the impact of disability on the living standards of middle-aged and elderly families. The results show that:(1)the incidence of disability in middle-aged and old people in China is 26.93%.(2)The per capita income of middle-aged and elderly disabled families is only 63.56% of the average level of middle-aged and elderly families, and they are more dependent on pension income, government and social transfer income, more inclined to basic living and medical care expenditure, and less inclined to hedonic consumption.(3)The probability of middle-aged and elderly disabled families in low living standard is 1.372 times that of healthy families;the gender, age, disability level, and education level of disabled members have a significant impact on their family per capita income, per capita consumption and comprehensive index of living standard, and the impact of male, older and higher degree of disability on their family living standard is more significant serious,to some extent, the disabled members with high education have a positive effect on improving their family living standard.(4)The additional cost of living for middle-aged and old disabled families to achieve the same living standard of healthy families accounts for15.53% of their total family income,of which 29.05% and 11.19% are in urban and rural areas respectively,14.38% are in mild disabled families, and in moderate and severe disabled families,it is 24.74%,which proves once again that disability has a certain negative effect on the living standard of middle-aged and elderly families.According to the above research,it is proposed that considering adding the additional living cost of the middle-aged and elderly disabled families into the income support evaluation standard system of the disabled group, and accurately increasing the capital investment of the disabled families.Establishing a perfect medical service system in order to reduce the burden of medical expenditure of the disabled families, and try to improve the consumption structure of the middle-aged and elderly disabled families.Focusing on improving the middle-aged and elderly disabled family living standards of men,the elderly, severely disabled, rural areas and other disabled groups, and weaken the inhibitory effect of these disabled characteristics on family living standards. In addition, the government and social institutions should give full play to the role of employment assistance, and establish a trinity of family, community and government care system for disabled groups. |
