The United States is a country with multicultural and multiethnic.It can also be said to be a country composed of immigrants.Since the founding of the United States,immigration policies have shown different characteristics in different periods along with the changes of national interests.The Filipino is one of the most important source countries of immigrants and one of the fastest-growing groups of immigrants to the United States,who have experienced different periods of change in the United States.The main purpose of this article is to explore the various influences and changes that the promulgation of the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act has caused to the history of Filipino immigrants,to introduce the political、economic and living conditions of Filipino immigrants after the immigration reform,and to expose ethnic minorities living conditions in the United States.This article is divided into five parts: The first part is the introduction,mainly introduces the research object、purpose and significance of this research.Summarizes the domestic and foreign research on 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act and the study of Filipino immigration in the United States,as well as the framework structure、research methods and innovations of this paper.The second part mainly introduces the early immigration policy of the United States and the relevant content of the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act.Looking back at the early immigration stage when the Filipino was a Spanish colony,to the stage when the Filipinos were regarded as "American nationals" after the United States occupied the Filipino in 1898,and then to the promulgation of the Teddings-Mc Duffie Act when Filipino immigrants can no longer freely immigrate to the United States.Discuss the historical background 、 the content and characteristics of 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act,and its impact on immigrant groups.The third part discusses the relevant content of the economic situation of Filipino immigrants after 1965.From the aspects of the age and gender structure of immigrants、family and marriage,and the distribution characteristics of residence,this paper analyzes the new characteristics of the Filipino immigrant population after the promulgation of the1965 Immigration and Nationality Act.To explore the changes in the economic status of Philippine immigrants in terms of educational level,occupation and industry distribution,employment rate and income level.The fourth part describes the political participation of Filipino immigrants after1965.Due to the discrimination and injustice of Filipino immigrants in the mainstream society in the United States,coupled with the improvement of their economic status,they began to establish relevant political organizations,strengthen cooperation with other immigrant groups,and participate in voting activities to defend their legitimate rights and interests.It also discusses the factors that affect the political participation of Philippine immigrants from three aspects: American social xenophobia and institutional obstacles,economic constraints and immigration "internal friction",and the political subjective participation consciousness of Filipino immigrants.The fifth part discusses the social integration of Filipino immigrants and the impact of Filipino immigrants on American society.The national identity of Filipino immigrants to the United States is deeply influenced by their colonial history.As "model minority",Filipino immigrants and other Asian groups suffer a lot from racial discrimination,and their pursuit of the "American Dream" seems to be a long-term thing.Finally,it discusses the economic and cultural impact of Filipino immigrants on American society after the promulgation of the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act.
