Education of international students is an important part of China’s higher education.In order to comprehensively study the issues about acculturation of international students,Taking Huaqiao University as an example,this study integrates the acculturation and college adjustment of international students,and analyzes the influence mechanism of the factors on the acculturation and adjustment of the international students.This study adopts Cognitive and Affective Personality System(CAPS)factors at the individual level and the social support factor at the social level to analyze the influence mechanism.A series of feasible countermeasures of social work for the improvement of the acculturation and college adjustment of international students in China are provided according to the research findings.This study mainly examines the situation and influence mechanism on acculturation and college adjustment of international students in China.Firstly,combined with gender and grade,this paper analyzed the situation of acculturation and college adjustment of international students.Secondly,this paper analyzed the relationship between acculturation and college adjustment,as well as the influence of cultural intelligence,self-regulation and social support on acculturation,college adjustment and mental health of international students.It was found that acculturation had a significant correlation with college adjustment,especially the adaptation to learning and peer relationship with environmental and interpersonal adaptation.In addition,cultural intelligence,self-regulation,social support and different grades,Chinese language proficiency all had some influences on acculturation and college adjustment to some extent.Thirdly,this study used structural equation model and bootstrap method to test the influence mechanism of cultural intelligence and self-regulation as the internal unit of CAPS,and the influence mechanism of each dimension of social support in the effect of influence of above personality system unit on total adaptation.This paper found cross-cultural metacognition and cognition dimensions of cultural intelligence,and goal completion,resilience and attention as dimensions of self-regulation accords with the internal units of CAPS theory,with a certain internal mechanism.Self-regulation mediated the influence of cultural intelligence on total adaptation.Moreover,this study supported the Main Effect Theory of social support,and holds that social support mediated the influence of cultural intelligence on total adaptation,and also mediated the influence of cultural intelligence on self-regulation.Social support also has a positive promoting effect on total adaptation,and a positive effect on total adaptation through the mediating role of self-regulation.Fourthly,on the basis of the previous research and existing management system and measures,this study adopted semi-structured interviews to further explain the previous research,and designed the maneuverable educational service countermeasures to promote the adaptation of acculturation and college adjustment of international students,in the aspect of enhancement of cultural intelligence,self-coordination ability,social support and Chinese language proficiency.This study innovatively integrated the acculturation with college adjustment of international students,in line with the practical situations of international students in China.It has practical significance that study on the influence factors which are easier to improve and change,and countermeasures suggested.In addition,this paper integrated Mischel’s Cognitive and Affective Personality System and the Direct Effect Theory of social support in a relational network,and introduced social support factor in the dynamic unit of Cognitive and A ffective Personality System for analysis,which is an empirical supplement of the combination of the two theories.
