College students are the most creative and dynamic group in society in society,and a precious human resource.The timely employment of college students has a profound impact on my country’s social development and economic stability.With the expansion of universities and prosperity of higher education,the employment pressure of college students is huge.The university-oriented employment model with two-way selection of " market-oriented and independent career selection " is implemented in my country.However,it should be pointed out that the market’s own limitations and external conditions have caused the college student employment market to show an obvious oversupply.Regional differences,urban-rural differences,and information asymmetry in the college student employment market also affect and hinder the smooth employment of college students.The basic function of the government is to make up for " market failure" and "social failure".The failure of the college student employment market and the injustice of college student employment appear in the employment of college students.Clarifying the fulfillment of government functions in the college student employment market has important practical significance for the college student employment market.Yangzhou is not only a beautiful scenic city,but also a cultural city full of humanities.With the intensified competition for talents,how to guide and promote the employment and entrepreneurship of college students and gather rich human capital for local social economic culture and industrial development is a topic worthy of the attention of government departments.This article uses the literature survey method、case analysis method、comparative research method and other research methods to explain the role of the government in the employment of college students from four aspects:public services、policy guarantees macro-control and market supervision.The status quo of the implementation of the functions of college students in employment,analysis of the problems and reasons of the implementation of the functions of the Yangzhou government in the employment of college students,and the proposal to strengthen the government’s public service responsibility for the employment of college students,ensure the implementation of college student employment security,and enhance the strength and awareness of government macro-control.To build countermeasures and suggestions on government supervision and willing to improve the performance of the Yangzhou Municipal Government’s functions in the employment of college students and promote the social and economic development of Yangzhou better.
