Ethnic Chinese students are different from other learners in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.The goal of Chinese teaching for ethnic Chinese students is not only to teach them to master Chinese knowledge and Chinese skills,and to use Chinese skillfully for communication,but also to cultivate and maintain their Chinese cultural complex and stimulate their deep cultural feelings for their ancestral country.However,the author finds that there are few literatures on the individual factors of Chinese learners in non-target language environment,especially on the individual factors of Chinese learners in non-target language environment.In order to teach Chinese to the ethnic Chinese students in the nontarget language environment,the author makes use of the convenience of teaching in the Confucius Classroom in the Eastern Language and Business Center of Myanmar,and uses the methods of questionnaire survey,observation and private informal interview to investigate and analyze the individual factors of the five and six grades ethnic Chinese students in the primary school from the two aspects of external factors and internal factors,It also analyzes the influence of the survey results on students’ Chinese learning.Finally,on the basis of the results of the investigation,some feasible suggestions are put forward on how to cultivate the Chinese learning motivation of ethnic Chinese students and how to carry out Chinese teaching more pertinently.
