Behavioral economics combines economic rationality and psychological factors to explore and analyze the economic behavior of social people, which can explain people’s economic decision-making motivation more comprehensively. The scale of ASEAN students coming to Guangxi to receive undergraduate education is increasing day by day. This paper, from the perspective of behavioral economics, explores the motivation of overseas students’ educational investment in Guangxi ASEAN universities, believing that it can more scientifically and truly answer the reasons why ASEAN students come to Guangxi to study abroad. The research on the motivation of ASEAN foreign students’ educational investment behavior in Guangxi universities is the research object of this paper. The relevant theories of behavioral economics are the theoretical tools for explaining phenomena and testifying views in this paper. This paper takes the research on the motivation of ASEAN students’ educational investment in Guangxi universities as the main line, and chooses the herding effect, risk aversion, anchoring effect theory and psychological account in behavioral economics as the theoretical analysis framework.By using the methods of literature analysis, questionnaire design,follow-up interviews and other methods, this paper makes an in-depth analysis on the motivation factors of ASEAN students’ educational investment in Guangxi through binary logistics regression analysis model and SPSS 22.0 statistical software, thus releasing the explanatory effect and relevant conclusions of relevant theories of behavioral economics on the paper research.Based on the investigation and follow-up interviews of foreign students from seven ASEAN countries including Vietnam,Laos,Myanmar,Cambodia,Thailand,Malaysia,Philippines and Indonesia in Guangxi University,Guangxi University for Nationalities,Guangxi Medical University and Guangxi Normal University, the main findings are as follows:(1)There are obvious differences in educational investment behavior of ASEAN foreign students from different family backgrounds and different majors;(2)The educational investment decision-making of overseas students from ASEAN to Guangxi is influenced by herd mentality, and there is herd behavior.(3)Overseas students from ASEAN to Guangxi have low educational investment risks and strong willingness to continue investing.(4)A good impression of China’s international image and the quality of Guangxi’s educational services has stimulated overseas students from ASEAN to study in Guangxi, with significant anchoring effect;(5)Most ASEAN overseas students’ spending on family account listed their children’s education after living expenses and medical insurance, and regarded their children’s education investment expenditure as a necessary expenditure item.Families of ASEAN overseas students studying in Guangxi can reduce the expenditure under the account of children’s education, thus avoiding giving up education investment due to the increase of expenditure in other accounts and boosting the education investment decision of Guangxi ASEAN overseas students. To sum up,our suggestions are as follows:(1)Make full use of the herd mentality of ASEAN foreign students’ education investment, and focus on improving the quality of education in Guangxi and forming public praise;(2)Pay attention to the risk aversion of overseas students from ASEAN to Guangxi, and increase the aid for scholarships for overseas students;(3)Give full play to the anchoring effect of overseas students from ASEAN to Guangxi, and intensify the publicity of educational services in Guangxi and Guangxi.(4)According to the psychological account effect of parents of overseas students from ASEAN to Guangxi on their children’s education, gather forces to expand the scale.
