| Since the 1980 s,with the appearance of The Convention on the Rights of The Child and the rising of the new sociology of childhood and the study of children’s naive theory,the paradigm of children’s research has gradually developed from the object of studies to the study participants.The theory fields have affirmed the concepts of "children as researchers" and "children’s ability to participate",but in practice,there are still habitual neglect of children’s views and acquiescence of adults’ views.This research aims to understand children’s views on creation and development of the existing role-playing area in the class through listening to the voices of children to explore their focus on the elements of indoor role-playing activities and specific preferences of their focus,so as to provide a new perspective for the creation and use of the role-playing area.Based on the theory of children’s perspective,this study invited 40 senior class children from a kindergarten in Nanchang to participate in the study by using Mosaic approach,and used qualitative analysis software Nvivo11 to encode and analyze the collected children’s views on the role area based on the grounded theory.The results of the research are mainly presented in four aspects: children’s basic understanding of role areas,ranking of the importance and preference of the components of role areas in children’s eyes,the status of role areas in children’s eyes and characters of children’s favorite indoor areas.Based on the processing of the collected data,it was concluded that children’s basic understanding of the role area mainly includes two aspects which are definition and value.In children’s opinions,the importance of components of the role area ranks as followed: material,companion,decoration,space,teacher,opportunity and mark.Children think that the present situation of the role area exists features of abundant materials while low usage rate,too adult-decorating and lack of interests,too real situation and the too fixed position,unequal opportunity and demand exceeding supply and so on.It is expected the progress that the indoor role-playing areaimproves the characteristics of participation,childlike interests,situations and freedom.After summarizing and reflecting on the above results,the suggestions are put forward for kindergarten teachers and kindergartens: clarify the value of the role play with theories as the cornerstones;focus on children’s requirement and meet their needs of growth;enhance the ability to appreciate and encourage children to participate in creating and establishing;adopt local way to distribute time and materials flexibly;enhance the fusion of the vision and find an appropriate balance. |
