| The discipline of modern home economics originated in the United States and was initially introduced to China in the 20 th century.In 1922,the department of home economics of yenching university was formally established.Since then,lingnan university,south China women’s college of liberal arts and science,aurora university(aurora women’s college of liberal arts and science),furen university,jinling women’s college of liberal arts and science,west China union university and so on have set up the discipline of homemaking.By the 1950 s,the discipline of home economics in missionary universities had been dissolved or reorganized in the restructuring of departments.A general survey of the course of the establishment and development of the discipline of home economics in modern China’s missionary universities is still of reference and guiding significance to the establishment and development of the discipline of home economics in today’s universities.This study takes home economics as the object.Firstly,it analyzes the social background of the establishment of the discipline of home economics in missionary universities.Second,selected was founded in the 1920 s,30 s and 40 s three representative church university home economics disciplines,namely,yanjing university,south China women’s college of liberal arts,jinling women’s college of liberal arts as a case,from the training objectives,curriculum setting,teaching staff,social services and other aspects,to explore the development of its domestic science discipline;Finally,the paper summarizes the development of the discipline of home economics in missionary universities,analyzes its achievements and problems in the past 30 years,analyzes the disciplinary characteristics of home economics in missionary universities,and summarizes its contemporary enlightenment.This study is mainly divided into five parts:The first part discusses the background of the preparation and establishment of the discipline of home economics in modern missionary universities.The rise of home economics education in primary and secondary schools has triggered the demand for home economics teachers.The beginning of the discipline of home economics in Chinese colleges and universities prompted the establishment of the discipline of home economics in missionary universities.The vigorous development of home economics in the United States also provides a strong impetus for the establishment of home economics in missionary universities.Part two discusses the establishment and development of the discipline of home economics in yenching university.The integration of women’s college,the vocational education of yenching university and milan’s coming to China have created an opportunity for the establishment of the department of homemaking of yenching university.Since the establishment of yenching university,the discipline of home economics has always focused on "practical" education.Training objective is practical oriented;The content of the course is practical and practical.Teachers actively carry out practical research;Trained a batch of high-quality practical talents.The third part discusses the establishment and development of home economics in south China women’s college of arts and sciences.The support of successive school leaders and the application for registration to the Ministry of Education provided an opportunity for the establishment of home economics in south China women’s college of arts and sciences.In the process of running a school,home economics takes "science" as the center and insists on scientific curriculum setting,scientific teaching and scientific student research.Part four discusses the establishment and development of home economics in jinling women’s college of arts and sciences.The discipline of home economics of jinling women’s college of arts and sciences,founded in the war years,takes "service" as the key and characteristic of running a school under the guidance of the school’s philosophy of "good life".Training objectives to serve the community as the standard;The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of service;Practice teaching focuses on training service ability;Service activities are based on dedication.The fifth part is summary and thinking.Through sorting out and analyzing the above three cases and the general situation of the development of home economics in other missionary universities,it can be found that home economics in modern China’s missionary universities has made remarkable achievements in running schools and experienced the development process from technology to learning--from cultivating talents with advanced household management to scientific research.Curriculum design from application to both research and application;Teaching experiments from the school to the outside;Academic research has shifted from copying westernization to pursuing local research and development.At the same time,there are still some unsolved problems in the development of home economics,that is,unbalanced development under the stereotype of occupational gender.Localization dilemma caused by acclimatization;The crisis of discipline legitimacy brought by internal troubles and external invasion.On the whole,the discipline of home economics in missionary universities is characterized by strong discipline,strong religion and social service.This paper summarizes the experience and lessons of running home economics in missionary universities,enlightening us that the establishment and development of home economics in modern universities need to break the stereotype of discipline and gender and advocate multi-level running.Strengthen academic construction and strive for the legitimacy of discipline;Advocating cooperative education and promoting the connection between disciplines and social needs;Learn advanced international experience in running a school and promote the development of home economics. |
