On December4,2017,the United Nations Environment Assembly, the highest decision-making mechanism for global environmental issues, held in Nairobi,Kenya, and issued a report on the status of global pollution in 2017.According to the report of the Congress, environmental pollution can be roughly divided into two categories:domestic pollution, production pollution, and domestic pollution and production pollution mainly from population agglomeration and economic agglomeration. At present, due to the deepening of urbanization, population agglomeration, economic agglomeration is also constantly highlighted.Economic agglomeration can bring economies of scale and promote the sustained development of our economy.Population agglomeration can bring about the sharing of infrastructure and reduce the capital of repeated construction source waste, but excessive agglomeration or unreasonable agglomeration will cause a series of environmental problems such as regional resource shortage, land occupation, traffic congestion, environmental pollution and so on.With the improvement of people’s living standard, people’s enthusiasm for pursuing green water and green mountains increases day by day while pursuing economic benefits. This paper is based on the 10-year panel data of 31 provinces in China, this paper uses the panel data unit root test, panel cointegration test, and panel error correction model(pecm)to use dynamic generalized least squares(dgls)estimation to study the long-term and short-term causality between the three. The results show that in the short-term relationship, there is a one-way circular causality between population agglomeration, economic agglomeration and environmental pollution, and in the long-term relationship, population agglomeration, economic agglomeration and environmental pollution show a two-way circular causality.Based on the difference of long-term and short-term causality, our country is making long-term planning and short-term.The plan should focus on the coordinated development of regional economy, population urbanization and environmental protection. The conclusion of this paper confirms the causal relationship between population agglomeration, economic agglomeration and environmental pollution. Therefore, from the perspective of economic sustainable development,it is necessary to formulate different policies for different levels of regional population and economic agglomeration to deal with the environmental problems of population agglomeration and economic agglomeration.Due to the deepening of the marketization of economic development, more and more people are pouring into cities, resulting in the high coexistence of local regional economic agglomeration and environmental pollution. The relevant departments should reasonably control the regional population agglomeration, scientifically control the process of urbanization, and improve the environmental pollution control mechanism to ensure the basic conditions for human survival. We should give full play to the introduction of government Guide and take into account the overall role, appropriately slow down the pace of economic growth, ensure the quality of economic development, and slow down the concentration of environmental pollution,so as to realize the development relationship of benign interaction between regional economic development, population urbanization and environmental protection.
