| Sibling relationship is a psychological relationship formed by the interaction and influence of young children and their siblings.With the implementation of the “universal two-child policy”,it has gradually attracted widespread attention from researchers and the general public.The purpose of this research is to explore the characteristics and influencing factors of sibling relationships of first-born children aged 4-6 years old.The questionnaire survey and interview method were used to collect data and information from 1356 parents,14 teachers,parents,and first-born children,and used exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis,descriptive statistics,independent sample t-test,analysis of variance,correlation and regression analysis were used to analyze the data on sibling relationships among first-born children,parenting styles,peer relationships,and relationships among the three variables.The study is divided into the following five parts:The first part is putting forward the research questions,which including the research origin,research question,research significance,concept definition and literature review.The second part is research design,which including research methods,research objects,research tools,research processes and data analysis.The third part is the research results and analysis.It mainly analyzes the status and differences of sibling relationships among first-born children,the status and differences of parenting styles,the status and differences of peer relationships among children,and the relationship among the three variables.The fourth part is the discussion,which mainly discusses the characteristics of sibling relationships among first-born children,the characteristics of parenting styles,the characteristics of peer relationships among children,and the relationship among the three variables as well as insufficient research and outlook.The fifth part is conclusions and recommendations.The conclusions of this study are: sibling harmony is at a moderately high level,and there are differences in child’s gender,sibling’s gender,child’s age,sibling age difference and parents’ educational level.There is a significant positive correlation with democratic parenting styles and peer relationships.The two variables have a positive predictive effect on sibling harmony;democracy is the most important variable affecting sibling harmony.Sibling conflict is at the lower-middle level,and there are differences in child’s age,sibling age difference,family position and parents’ educational level.There is a significant positive correlation with doting,aissez-faire,authoritarian and inconsistent parenting styles and the four variables have a significant positive predictive effect on sibling conflict.There is a significant negative correlation with peer relationships,and peer relationships have a significant negative predictive effect on sibling conflict.Among them,laissez-faire is the most important variable affecting sibling conflict.Sibling competition is at the upper-middle level,and there are significant differences in child’s gender,sibling gender,sibling age difference,family position,whether parents are both only child in their family and parents’ educational level.There is a significant positive correlation with doting,democracy,inconsistent parenting styles and peer relationships.The four variables have a significant positive predictive effect on sibling competition.Among them,doting and inconsistency are the most important variables affecting sibling competition.Based on this,it’s suggested that respect individual’s differences and teach young children according to their aptitude;democratic education should be adopted to implement balanced love;and help first-born young children to develop their interpersonal skills. |
